In the Gap: Dance

For today's post, because it's the first In the Gap post, and I don't want you to be confused by the titles in the daily descriptions, I'm going to explain what I mean by "In the Gap."
This concept was newly introduced to me by my favorite blog of the moment, peytonperry.com. I discovered Peyton on Instagram and have been such a fan of her look. She's a graphic designer, and her Instagram feed is a magical place. I have also loved reading the thoughts of her heart on her blog, especially because many of them pertain to being an independent creator.
The post which I have looked at the most, though, is the one from which I've taken this term "In the Gap." I could regurgitate the whole thing for you, but I'd really rather you read it for yourself. Here it is! The. video. is. so. important. So important that I just punctuated that last sentence so acutely that it's painful to look at.
What did I learn from this blog post? I learned that being in the gap is okay. I learned that the gap is a necessary hurdle. And I learned that in order to get out of the gap, I have to work.
I'd like to get further out of the gap in dance. So what am I doing? Setting it up so that every Wednesday, I share with you something I've been working on. Hopefully choreography. Hopefully 15 seconds of Wednesday-In-the-Gap-instagram choreography. (Have any song requests? Let me know!) And you know what's fun about that? It ain't gonna be all that good. In fact, a lot of it will probably be pretty crummy. But the way to improve is to practice. As dancers say, "practice makes progress." And I'm gonna share it with you. And you'll get to see me improve. Hooray!
Follow Peyton. She's wonderful.
Have a great day. You're wonderful.

The Summer Shadow: Behind the Scenes

The past few months, I've been preparing for my summer project. Here's a sneak peek at a few quotations that I hoped to tack somewhe...
